Finding nothing in toys but the vintage Operation game, I spotted bags of vintage boxed Shiny Brite ornaments on the endcaps.  Searching further, I picked up 10 packs of Mrs. Grossman’s stickers, two packs of vintage Christmas stickers, some vintage sewing patterns – the cutest being the toddler jumper/romper pack, and then the coolest tall vintage greeting cards.  Each bag was between 45¢-$1.98.  And in Housewares, only the Lenox mug and Midwest of Canon Falls Cast Iron Santa and Reindeer Stocking Hangers.

While searching through jeans, I spotted the Karen Millen boots on the opposite rack.  Looking them up, I saw that they retail in the $300 range and figured their $10 price tag might be worth it.

Garage Sale Weekend Recap: “The Cuckoo Clock, The Christmas Tree & The Heidi Pocketbook Doll”

DSC_0047

Find My Finds: Amazon ~ Etsy ~ Bonanza ~ Ecrater ~ Poshmark

Last week I only picked up a couple of vintage He-Man action figures and a vintage Barbie Beauty Center, making a post not even worth it.  It was a shame, too, because there was an entire neighborhood sale, but unless I had trained and slept well and ate a good breakfast, there was no way I was going to be able to get through the strings of sales and focus to find each and every treasure to be found.  Truthfully, I didn’t even realize that neighborhood sale was that weekend until that morning or I would have been more prepared.  Oh well.  Moving on.

To another weekend of almost nothing.  I went to ten sales and only bought all of the above at the first one.  And gosh darn it, a few of the regulars had beaten me to it, one with his truck already full.  But I think he and I look for different things, except for the cute girl and boy figurines he had in his hand, but still, he didn’t find what I found, or maybe he just didn’t want it.

I picked up the very nice cuckoo clock, the Josef Originals flocked bunny rabbits, the Beatrix Potter ceramic watering can, the Hallmark ghost, the Eden Peter Rabbit, the vintage Christmas tree that revolves on a Sankyo music box that plays “Jingle Bells,” a Tinker Toy Junior Architect set, two Native American Indian dolls, some vintage books including a pop-up Star Wars Empire Strikes Back, some Shiny Brite Ornaments, a Strawberry Shortcake pin and a vintage Heidi Pocketbook Doll.  Grand total?  $20.  Great deal. Potential gain: $400.

Find My Finds: Amazon ~ Etsy ~ Bonanza ~ Ecrater ~ Poshmark ~ Threadflip

Being the first weekend of summer vacation and the weekend of our town’s Art & Wine Festival, there weren’t a lot of sales.  On Friday I actually took my convertible to two sales, and at the first I had to fight another lady for a massive patio umbrella.  I ended up winning and had to stick the thing out of the convertible to get it home.  And at the second sale I bought the vintage Deka bowls, the vintage Battlestar Galactica Tablecloth and the Western Germany plastic Angel Candleholders all for $2.

Saturday morning I started at the closest sale where I purchased the black and white Toss Beach Bag for $2 and the box of Bakugan for $2.

Then I headed way across town when I should have stopped at two others along a different route.  Especially when I only found the vintage toy cars in a bag marked 10¢ that turned out to be mismarked and actually cost me $1.50.  Walking out I saw the TEAC Premium Edition radio with multiple cords for $5 and bought that, too.

Making my way back through town, I stopped at a repeat sale that I was pretty sure would have nothing until I found the Littlest Pet Shop Playset and bag of toys for $3.

A few more drive-by’s and I argued with myself about stopping at one more that wasn’t supposed to start until later.  I did, squeezing into an awkward parking spot, and there I bought the five boxes of vintage glass ball ornaments, the carousel and the ceramic angel, all for $8.

I spent $22.50 and could make $650.

Garage Sale Weekend Recap: “Disney, Disney, Disney”

DSC_0264

Find My Finds: Amazon ~ Etsy ~ Bonanza ~ Ecrater ~ Poshmark ~ Threadflip

The first sale was a Disney Extravaganza.  And seeing as I had just sold ten total items to one buyer on my birthday who had asked to be notified when I had more Disney items, my eyes widened.  This was the same sale where I purchased the fantastic Paradise Pier Disney Rides that the other garage-sale-goers were clamoring over not long ago.  At this one she had the Tea Cup Ride that also works and has Donald and Daisy Duck figures.  Along with that I also bought all of the below:

Vintage Ultimate Mickey Cleo Wrapping Paper, a Schylling Balancing Donald Duck, a Treasure Craft Dalmatian Teapot, a vintage Auto Shade from 1986, a vintage Minnie Mouse Ceramic Picture Frame by Walt Disney Productions Japan, a wind-up Schylling Mickey Riding Pluto, a small wind-up Pluto toy, Princess ribbon, a new Disney Memories Castle/Small World – esque Picture frame, a Carousel Minnie, Mickey, Donald Mug, vintage Seven Dwarfs soap and a Bambi handkerchief.  Total was $40.  I found the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Exclusive Video Boxed Set and vintage Team Mickey football at later sales.

I moved on to a 10 family neighborhood sale.  There were several things I would have bought, but I only ended up with a Thomas Train Set for $3, a beautiful set of vintage Childcraft Book for $20 and some Spawn and Super Man action figures for $2 each.  I was almost going to buy more figures from a box of loose ones until a little woman swooped in and offered a dollar each and the older man said okay.  I was a little perturbed as I would have bought them for that price myself.  But you snooze you lose.

Things really weren’t going that great after the initial Disney sale, but I realized that at that sale I also bought a few bags of little toys which also included a Mattel Shoe Baby Beans, a Littlest Pet Shop Pug and a Barbie Baby Krissy Doll:

At a later stop I picked up the Victoria’s Secret pink dog for $1 and some vintage Style Brite Ornaments for $2.

Hitting a new little Flea Market, I picked up the Team Mickey football for $1 and the adorable Chinese Checkers set for $3.  The interior graphics are as cute as the exterior and the marbles even look old.

Screen Shot 2015-04-18 at 6.18.27 PM

Almost heading home, I realized I had missed writing a few down a few sales on my list, and headed further out only to find some vintage Hallmark Thanksgiving Salt & Pepper shakers for 50¢.

Screen Shot 2015-04-18 at 6.20.01 PM

Then doubling back to what looked like a fabulous Estate Sale, I was a little taken aback by the wind-up tin toys I had seen in a photograph in the listing sitting on a shelf at $48 each.  But not to worry, I found the Disney mug for 50¢, and then went to a back room where I found all of the Looney Tunes and Grinch Trinket Boxes at 50¢ each also.  Then I asked about a little old Hummel, “Let’s Sing,” one of my favorites, but it had a tiny chip.  It, too, was 50¢ along with a few old Little Golden Books.  Then I asked about the Snow White boxed set that comes with prints of the original movie posters, a book, etc.  I was told $2.  By then I had quite the pile.  One lady wrote me up as I took everything to the front and asked about an adorable print that was hanging in the hallway.  The two ladies there began gushing about it, saying that it was signed and said it was $20.  It is an adorable print of three girls by Dorothy Klyver.  I thought it was worth it. I was out of there for $28.

That was it on the day.  A whopping $106 on the day is a bit more than the norm for a smaller haul.  But I could net $1,350.00.
